The boys and girls who are in Primary 4 joined Class 4 to help clean up Scapa beach.  They worked really hard and filled up 4 big buckets.

The boys and girls really enjoyed their visit to Happy Valley.  They saw bees, bluebells, sycamore trees and lots of other interesting things.  It was lovely and quiet there and we could hear the sound of the water running and birds singing.

The boys and girls have been working hard on creating their own posters about things that can be found in the woods in Orkney.

The children really enjoyed exploring in Binscarth Woods.  We found bluebells, snowdrops and flowers called Lesser Flowered Garlic which do have a really strong garlic smell.  We found new leaves growing on trees and moss growing on walls and tree trunks.  We found beetles, slugs and slaters hiding under stones.  We could hear lots of birds singing and the sound of water running in the burn.

We enjoyed making some butterflies out of clothes pegs, paper, pens and pipe cleaners.  We tried to make them symmetrical.

We grew cress in the school greenhouse and used it to make some egg and cress sandwiches!  We have been learning about fractions and cut our sandwiches into quarters.  We are also learning how to help tidy up after our cooking.  Class 3/4 are really helpful with the washing and drying.
